Took my Buick out for it's first spin in 19 years. Far from legal but a real milestone for me. I noticed that when the steering wheel is at full stop, either left or right, the PS pulley actually stops rotating. I will be replacing the pump but wanted to know - is this a typical failure? The car has been sitting for some time. I put a seal kit in the pump, wondering if I screwed up the re-assembly. Thanks, Tom

I don't understand how that is possible unless the pump locks completely and the belt starts to slip.

Hi Larry, I finally got around to checking the PS again. I believe I had not tightened the belt sufficiently. I always get nervous when tightening that belt as I'm usually leveraging against the PS reservoir. I re-tightened the belt and the pulley doesn't appear to be stopping. Thanks, Tom
