'70 Estate Hearse (Pics up Airbagged!)(Now with dressed-up wheels) Brilliant spring day here, car's washed and time for a cruise. What better place for a few happy snaps of the ol' Buick than the ol' boneyard. p.s. custom bumper ornament coming this week. cant wait! will post pic asap.
Get some shots of that RHD interior!! I love seeing these conversions...pretty cool stuff. Your car is beautiful!:beer
Just tinted the aftermarket interior light red (it was covering a tear in the roof lining) then we'll be off to scare the kiddies come the 31st! Thanks Smartin, ther's a pic of the interior here: http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=77543&highlight=zorst but I'll endeavour to get more up. Strangely, the brake booster is still on the left hand side.
Yeah, have you seen Bill Stacy's 66 Electra 4door? He runs Buickstreet.com ... I believe I remember his saying that the brake pedal linkage is a work of art to get the power booster to work correctly.
That thing is awesome. I am dying to go for a ride in it. Ha-ha-ha. that is not my joke, I don't know where I stole it. So original, were the rear windows still functional when you got it? All hearses I have seen have the rear windows sort of covered.
I bought it pretty much as is. Back windows included. (hate to try and find them here!) May put curtains on it...
just got a custom made ornament for the bumper, the US price for an original was out of my range, so a local O.C.C. style chopper builder cut and chromed one for me. Think "Toni Iommi"
I checked out the links to the aussie rotary site that you posted, and noticed a few people telling you to drop a rotary or two into it with turbos. Forget that, twin turbo that 455!
Yeah, rotors are a passion since my first car, '74 RX-4. Still have a Series 1 RX-7. (thinks): Hmmm, twin turbo hearse....???
Dropped the hearse in today to have the airbags fitted. Here's the inspiration: Should be back next week. Can't wait.
When you get it back, can you take pics of all the work done, and also let me know what kit you used, or what parts you used and what was custom fabbed? I was thinking of putting air bags on my car...not for looks (although it looks badass) but for the ability to custom tune the suspension.
Will do, I will post all work in progress here. In the meantime, the kit came from here: http://www.airide.com.au/
i was the only hearse guy in here glad to see there are at least a couple of us in here. nice car! i have a 61 buick flxible hearse and my soon to be wife has an 81 buick first call wagon. any other hearse guys in here?
Well, the day I dropped it off at the engineer's, his sidekick (the Impala owner, above) sliced his hand on it pulling the 1st front coil, so progress has been slow. (12 stitches and 2 weeks off work) He rang today to tell me it's ready to view as it's on the bump stops, where it will sit when deflated.
