We are looking for the retaining clip or at least a pic of one for 70 A body. It apparently attaches around the radiator on the passenger side lower section and keeps the overflow tube from moving around.

The clip is referenced on page 11-4.4 of the 70 Assembly Manual but the parts books only show these for 5000, 6000 and 8000 series cars. Group 1.240, #3016522. This same big car number is good for at least 71 model year cars too.

Well, that's a new one to me. I have, never, ever seen that clip on any 70-2 Skylark. Hose was always just resting on the frame rail. Would be nice to see if such an item exists or just in the drawing.

I do not remember one either but who knows. Duane says they existed so you have to take their existance seriously. Have you ever seen one on a 5000, 6000, or 8000 series 70? Those are listed in the parts book but nothing for a 3-4000 series.

If you would have posted this a month ago I would have been able to check out a 70 Lesabre 4dr that I stripped for parts in the local yard. I don't have any access to any 70 cars at this time. My 70 Skylark/GS cars don't have that clip and neither do the 70 spare core supports I have.

I was looking for one also, couple years ago. Seemed no one had seen or even heard of them. Pic is from the '71 Chassis Manual, little fuzzy from being too close.

    Thanks Steve

That is better than the one in the 70 manual . It was so bad that I did not post it.

Karl cannot get back to his car for a month. If anyone else has one that they can take a pic of I would appreciate it.

What part number is on that thing Duane?

    Jim,
I don't know if it has a part number, I think it was part of the radiator sub-assembly, (radiator, radiator tag, hose clip) when it was delivered to the plant. It was probably never available as a replacement part.

These things are like the little black plastic plugs that covered over the AC sight glass, you never see them, they are almost always missing.

I have an installation drawing for the '70 overflow tank on 68/69 models and it does not show the clip in question being added to the "A" body installation on the drawing, but it does show it on the big car series installation drawing. It says "add if required" on the big car drawing.

But, the drawing for the "A" body shows a clip in place already, the big car drawing looks like it calls out an additional one. The drawing for the "A" body is the same one Steve Craig posted, you can see the clip on the tube running down the radiator.

Part number for the clip is shown as 3016522 on the drawing.
My parts book shows it as group 1.240

That's the same one I posted at the top above so I think we are getting somewhere. These clips were probably shucked left and right for any reason-- especillay if the rad. was ever re-cored. Insofar as a parts reference for replacement purposes they are only listed for 5000, 6000 and 8000 series. But the assembly manual shows them so you have to wonder if the A bodies got them and Karl say he does on his 72.

The parts book that I have is dated Jan '78 and it does not show as discontinued in this book. It also does not show it as a "Buick" only part, so it may be reproduced if a Chevy uses them :Do No:
