I had my 71 Skylark apart for about 3-1/2yrs now. Slowly rebuilding. We removed the front clip and body from the frame years ago and recently attached the body back to the frame with fresh frame pads.

Assembled the front clip, and placed it back into position. (Not bolted to the cowl, however bolt holes line up nicely). I noticed the inner fender wells ride about an 1" above the frame. I got to pondering and could not recall if the front clip sits on the frame or if it is supposed to ride above it. As it is, all bolt holes line up as is.

Body mounts one above, one below not directly on frame. usually along with body mounts body washers have to be added on top to line everything up.

    Thank you!

Sounds like I have it correct. It figures, leave it to me to find the one question where I can't find a photo to save my life. 3 trillion Buick motor/engine (70-72) compartment photos on the web, none showing the fame/inner fender alignment. LOL! Was having a small panic attack.
