What type of screws hold these pieces of trim on the top of the fender? These are the small thin pieces at the rear edge along the top. I vaguely remember hex head screws in another car I worked on, but this car came in pieces without any labeling system.

They are 1/4" hex head self drilling screws.

On a 70 they don't have screws just snap on

I'm not to sure about this, I think it depends on the build date or plant. I know some 70's got the thin style. I suspect it was like the other mid year changes and depended on the stock.

This is a very late 70 build. Oddly enough, these were actually part of the original pile of parts that came with the car. Fenders were drilled for them too.

All the 70s I remember taking apart had the thin ones but they were in fact mostly all early white top overflow,..and plastic rad support cars tho,..the thin match the hood trim better that's for sure ha,..never understood why they changed them

I think they are right Adam. That's what is on my car, I forget the date now but like late April I think. I'm sure you know about the un-scalloped moldings, pointed lenses, clear tank, etc. on the early cars. I think it's one of those later things like the ww moldings. It's not like you can say Jan 1, 1970 all the changes were made. I don't think you can even put a date on it. My car is a Fremont car. Maybe they ran out of the early style first, who knows? But, yeah..Dave nailed the screws for you!

What's good about the thin ones is you can get them off if the car is assembled. The screw on ones are near impossible to get off assembled.

    Adam,
could you post a picture of the inner part of the fender? Similar to picture below? What is the date on the fenders?
    Thanks
    Nelson

I can't make out the date on either of them. One of them has the circular hole just ahead of the hood bumper hole, and the other doesn't. The one pictured does not.

The one fender is a 70 and the other is 71-72.
