I'm getting ready to replace my water pump gasket but may need to replace the timing cover gasket as well. Would the pooling oil shown in the photo be coming from the cover gasket or is there just coolant passages in that area? I don't believe it's coming out of the distributor but it's difficult to tell. Thanks, Tom

Mine has the same issue and I’ve been told the timing cover gasket needs to be replaced.

Mine did the same thing, and then when I replaced the gasket it stopped

That happened to me as well. What I did was clean that area where the gasket is really well, then put some RTV in there and it stopped.

I get water on mine but I can't figure out where it's coming from.

Thanks for all of the prompt responses - I'll to that gasket when I do the water pump. Thanks, Tom

Then make sure you prime the oil pump when you are done.

Thanks for the advice Larry, I have a priming tool headed my way. My oil pump gasket kit just arrived from TA, so I have the oil pump gaskets, water pump gaskets and the timing cover gaskets. Thanks, Tom

I wouldn't take the pump apart if I didn't have to. Try priming it when you are done. Turn it backwards then forwards.

Understood. I have oil leaking in that area. I'll try to run the car tomorrow and confirm the source of the leak before I take it apart. Thanks, Tom
