After dealing with "Billions and Trillions" and getting no where.... Still need the following parts for my 69 Wildcat Custom Convert. Driver's side door armrest. (Black preferably) Wildcat wheel center caps. Need 2 but I'll take four if it makes the sale! Rear tailight lenses. Both sides. Mine are intact but fading badly. Rear seat seat belts X 2 (again black) Tri Shield Emblem for nose of car. And if there is such a thing... Large bolt pattern Rallye wheels in 15X8 size. Let's make a deal! Thanks!
You can polish most lens back to where you nedd them. Is the nose emblem the same as the one that the guy on the BCA Board redid? Ask Wild Bill if he has anything else on your list.
I have a very nice 69 bumper emblem, complete with backing plate.. I think I paid 60 or 70 for it a couple of years ago. Interested? The car in your avatar is a 70, and they are different...
Ok. Thanks. They are pretty faded and dried out... I remember seeing a post somewhere about someone fabricating an emblem, but could not remember where I saw it.... What's Wild Bill's handle here?
Very interested in that emblem. You are the second person that has said that my car is a 70? The title says 1969, but could it have been a 70 model sold in late 69 or fall of 69? What are the major distinguishing features between the two years?
Is that red car your car? It is a 70 for sure, and a nice one! Here is a 69: I love a good mystery. Can you post the VIN for your car? You can leave out the last 5 numbers if you're concerned about anything.
Thanks for the compliment, but I've seen mine up close and I think yours has mine beat. Overall she's nice but someone slapped on a cheap paint job so she's a 20 footer... Previous owner kept it garaged, but pretty much left everything go. Interior is in great shape to the naked eye, but when I pulled out the back seat to look for seat belts and top fluid lines, the foam padding all but dropped out due to being dried out. Looks like the hydraulic fluid lines for the top ruptured as the lone seatbelt is soaked and the well is soaked as well. I read on another site that we can use automatic tranny fluid for refilling the top? Is that true? (Dextron?) Do you have a photo of the emblem that you have for sale? I'll post the vin later tonight when I get home. Thanks! Rick
My emblem will not fit the red car. Your (our, as I need one too, as does everyone) emblem is made of lunar dust and polyunobtainium, and we won't have access to any more until we resume our travels to the moon. ou:
I noticed that yours doesn't have the bumper emblem in your photos? Is that because the 69 emblem does not fit the holes or just because you did not want to put on the wrong year? Also it looks like your hood does not have the chrome trim down the center or are my eyes just fading with age? I just ordered the trim from Wheatbelt for a 69 so I am hoping that it will fit my "70"! Looks like the same contours... What size tires are you running? I have not pulled my wheels yet, but they look like 15x6? Hoping to put more rubber on the back wheels but all of the after market rallye wheels seem to be the small bolt pattern. Tires on there now are 215's in 75 aspect.
Bummer. I think lunar travel may only be ten to twenty years away though so maybe my son will be able to get some after I am gone!
No chrome trim. I wasn't aware that it was available... The emblem is totally different from 69 to 70. I have 235-70-15 tires, but 255-60 would fit. Actually, you can buy a repop... they are about 400 $ maybe more, and I hear there is a long wait for them. The problem is that if you ever bump anything straight on the emblem is gone. It is the leading point... poor design.
Funny you mentioned the motor. I was just looking up more 69 vs 70 photos and remembered that the decals on the engine (air cleaner or valve cover.. I don't remember) said 430 and the 70 comes with the 455. How would I tell the 430 from the 455 visually from the outside? ID numbers? Also in photos the 69 hood is different from mine along with the bumper. My hood looks like Frank's. Really strange that there seem to be parts from different years on the car? Wouldn't think that the 70 bumper would fit 69 fenders?
Can't help you with sheet metal differences, sorry. At the top of the engine block, just in front of the bellhousing and behind the intake manifold you'll see the numbers "430" or "455" cast into the block. Devon
Your interior shot looks like a 69. Your front clip appears to be all, or mostly 1970. Hard to tell in the photos, but it looks like 69 fender trim. The side marker is 70 though. How about a rear bumper pic?
Thanks! I'll check the engine tonight. Even more interesting, and maybe someone on the board knows why... The fenders on my car seem to have the shape of a 70, the vertical "gills" of the 69, but three portholes of neither year??
That IS odd. The three portholes may signify fenders from a LeSabre, and someone put the side grills on those. If the hood isn't drilled for the hood spear (and is supposed to be?), it's likely. I know LeSabre didn't get the hood spear in '67, while Wildcat & Electra did. Maybe the hood spear was dropped altogether for 1970? Devon
