69 Riviera Engine bay/ frame coating and painting

But while I'm waiting for machine shop I'm trying to restore the engine bay and put a nice black protective coating on it. What recommendations you guys have for coatings? I heard and seen POR15 , rustoleum frame coating. What gives the best protective coating while looking legit? I got a pic of before and after doing some cleaning and grinding.     A87D3055-7570-487A-927D-3561BB465A33.jpeg I wouldn’t use POR-15; it’s not designed for that application (it likes rusty surfaces). I scrubbed my engine compartment after removing everything that could be taken out and shot it with Rustoleum satin finish. It’s close to the original look.

    I don't have a picture handy, but dupli color satin black engine enamel looks great too. That is what I used.

    Mine was that crusty when I started with the car. Did the low gloss / satin look first time around but later re did it in a gloss. I like it much better.
