I like to position all of mine to point straight back at 9 O'clock. More weight transfer toward the rear, Lol.
I put mine so gravity and leverage is always trying to roll the window up, that way I don't get a little air leak when driving.
Adam is correct. The crank, cam, and pistons are now in, and the heads are bolted on. Nick has the timing chain on and is working on the front cover etc. Due to the block being cut and the heads being trued up, the intake needed cut. I believe this is now done, or will be done very shortly. The valve springs were brand new standard Stage 1 replacement springs, but Nick wanted more pressure, so they were swapped out. Nick and his buddy Bob are trying to get the engine together so Nick can take it to the shop and run/break it in on the Dyno. (From what I understand he does this with all his engine builds.) He still has to Fabricate the fuel lines for the Holly 3-barrell carb. It has a longer body then a regular Holly 4-barrell, so it has to be made up custom. I supplied him with pics from other Motion cars so he could see what they did. Yes it would have been easier to put the drivetrain in before the shell was dropped on the frame, but we are not stopping production to do that. The car is on a lift so it will be easy to drop in the motor when finished and either put the trans in at the same time, or put the trans in from the bottom. Also now that it's on the lift he can put on the rear wheel well trim, gas tank, etc., and maybe even finish up the trunk and quarter lights/emblems. Again, we are trying to get this done as fast as possible. My intention is not to miss another show date. Here are some earlier pics of the motor work. Duane
...........and I thought my car was unique. Now I know of two others like it. They're growing on trees. LOL But it's good to know it will look nice when done. Duane
By the way, the 69 car is 50 years old this week. (Body date of 9D, which was 9/23 thru 9/27 1968.) Happy birthday. Duane
Dave, That's even scarier because that was the car our 4-bolt 455 Tunnel port Experimental Engine came from. Hope Nick doesn't see that pic. I could walk into his garage and see a car covered in decals. Duane
Yes. If I remember correctly when it had our motor installed the car was painted either a Red or Maroon color and had the lettering in gold. That's why I didn't even think of it being an original blue car. Duane
Yes. He bought the car in Butlington NC and picked it up at the train depot, took it home and made a race car. Was originally Crystal blue and later painted red and white.
