Here is a better picture of the '67... Definitely writing on the front fender. The first word looks like "Bounty", second word could be "Hunter".
Next week we will have to throw a Birthday party for the car, it will be 50 years old. Body date of 9D, which was 9/23 thru 9/27 1968.) I will post some pics tonight of some parts I worked on over the weekend. Duane
OK, Over the weekend I picked up the front windows Jason Cook gave me and polished up the passenger front window. It was a beautiful piece of glass and I want to thank Jason. I also picked up a 69 AM radio from Gene Hill. Between Nick's radio and this one I think I can get what I need. I also covered the rear armrests and cleaned/painted a few other parts. I then put together a set of Front & Rear Shocks. The Motion cars often came with "Cure Ride" shocks. I got a set of NOS fronts with the car but no rears so I decided to cosmetically reproduce a set. I will probably sell the fronts, because they bring stupid money and I am not planning on pounding on the car. Anyway here are the pics of the shocks. Duane
Duane, Im glad that glass went to a worthy cause. And I just wanted you to know that I got instant good karma after giving you that glass and won $261 in the NE Chapter 50/50 raffle that day.
Just passed by Motion today on the way home from work. The "Car Mart" used car lot is now a Starbucks I know I mentioned this in an old post, but all Nassau County properties are searchable online. and you can look at property card PDF's. I looked up the Motion Performance building and low and behold, its owned by "Motion Realty". Go figure. Joel must still own the building
"Duane, your attention to detail never ceases to amaze me." I can't really take credit for the shocks, Jimmy did the research, found out what the cars came with, and bought the front shocks. When he got it the car had a set of racing shocks on it and he knew that wasn't right. I just got to reproduce the set, although they did turn out nice. I found a decent color match but it was a touch off and the finish was more of a satin then gloss on the originals. I was trying to figure out how to match that and said the He!! with it. When I sprayed them it was pretty damp outside and the paint flashed. When they dried the color was perfect. Every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Duane PS. You gotta have fun doing something so.....................
Oh, I found one of the Hurst Wheel key chains. I thought it was cool with the red line tire, like the ones on my car. Enjoy. Duane
Yeah, when I was getting those photos off of Google Maps I noticed that the old car lot had a tag on it calling it out as a Starbucks...
Nope, Just those 4 plus 6 more if I screwed them up..................................but I do have about 50 of the Original large size Cure Ride stickers for the windows. I have seen those go for something like $29.00 each on line. Any body want to buy a few???? Duane
OK, Nick was busy again. He put the passenger side window in, and aligned it and installed the front door panel. Then he installed the rear door panels and ashtrays. And started to button up the dash. The consolette was set in place so he could install/position the Sun Gauges without obscuring the tach. He has them all lined up in a row when you are sitting in the seat. Duane
Looks awesome! Since you’re being so thorough, I have a question-what is the correct ‘clocking’ for the window cranks? Patrick
Went back and looked at post #1. 118 days elapsed time- it’s incredible the difference between the first pics posted and the most recent pics! Keep up the great work!
Patrick, I don't know if there is any. Those would have been installed by Fisher Body and I don't think we have any info on that. Most people just place them where they want them. Maybe someone could look at a Dealer Brochure and see. Of course they were all publicity shots and may/may not show what was done on actual cars. Ken, Yeah, it's been a ride. I figured the Cecil event was an un-attainable goal, but if we didn't have to put a quarter on, and had hang-ups with a few parts, we certainly could have brought a respectable car to the show, even if it was not finished. Duane
My preference is 5 o'clock for the drivers side, 7 o'clock for the passenger side. Appearance wise, they're less obtrusive pointing down. And functionally, it's a good angle to get the rotation going.
