The Motion GSX reminded me of a car I came across years ago and I am wondering if anyone knows where it is now. In approximately 1986/87 I was driving around in my Dad's `68 Special Deluxe and in the driveway of a house was a Gold `69 GS. My buddy and I, we were crazed teenagers at the time, stopped to check it out. The guy came out and opened it up. There sat a Stage 2 Buick. It had 400/430 style chrome valve covers with the Kenne Bell decals. The guy started it up and it was incredible, it shook the earth. He briefly explained the Stage 2 deal, because my friend and I originally were confused because we thought how could the Stage 2 come before the Stage1? He wanted $8K for it so it was out of our league, but we would drive by it once in a while.

The car would have been located just outside of Utica, NY (actuall town is sliping my mind). The house was fairly large and the car sat parallel to the road, perpindicular to the main driveway. Gold in color and fairly rusty on the underside. Never ran any numbers, so not sure if it was a real GS or if the engine was a 400, 430 or 455, but it did have Stage 2 heads. Last time I saw it would have been 1987 or 88.

Just interested if anyone knows the rest of the story on this car???

Dave- Shoot John Csordas (Skyhawk) a PM. I remember him telling me a story of a similar car that he went to look at years ago. might be the same car.

BTW...are you gonna spill the beans about what the hell "Tomahawk" means??

There was a dirty brown 69 GS at the Nats back in '87. It had the Stage 2 iron heads and was pretty grungy looking. Definitely a street racer type setup. I remember seeing rusty holes in the lower rear quarters and fenders, dings and dents and rusting bumpers. Ran in the 12's on skinny black painted steel wheels and snow tires  . It was for sale too. Never saw it at the Nats again.

Could you have brought your 1969 GS400 into the dealer in 71 and have the stage-2 package installed? :Do No:

Probably, but the stage 2 heads won't do much good on a 400 motor.Go to the posts starting on 12/05/03 in "the bench" for some reading on the 69 stage2 cars.

Jason the 69 Stage 2 I have talked about was from the Bronx and only had about 900 miles on it in 1976. The original owner strickly drag raced it until 1972. It was sold in July 1976 to some locals and then totaled a few weeks later street racing it. I believe the engine or at least the heads ended out by Scotty PG some how. It was originally on forest green car and then painted a flipflop black in 1971. he held all the records out at National Speedway but in 70 & 71. 10:28 @128mph back in 71!
