It was a decent day so we thought we would bolt the slicks on and push the car out of the garage for a few pics.

Well I did some trimming on the wheel well to get the slicks to fit but they are still rubbing. They are just a little too big. If anyone is interested we'll probably be selling some used 28.5X10.5 Firestone slicks soon.

There appears to be 2 kids playing around inside of that unfinished project.I have to say that it is finally starting to look like a car again. Next comes the final body work and a whole lot of block sanding.

Greg here is a pic of the sump/pump setup. Using both ports on the sump is probably overkill but I figured better safe than sorry. We used a BG Y-block to go into the BG filter. We'll find out if the Holley Black pump will provide enough fuel for the 700hp range.

You should be able to get thoughs slicks to fit, your just not trying hard enough. :) Try using a hammer.

It's funny Shayne. There seems to be enough clearance on the pass. side but the driver side is rubbing even after doing some trimming. There is plenty of room on the inside though. Makes me wish the wheels were 5" backspace instead of 4.5". Maybe when we had the bolt-on-ends welded on it made the rear a hair wider because I always heard that the 12 bolt was a little narrower and would cause inside clearance issues rather than outside clearance. :Do No:
I'm sure the BFH method would probably work but there has been some body work done and I'd hate to knock out all of that fine fiberglass work when we are so close to paint.

    Todd,
Thanks for the fuel picture. Checkout this long thread with some pics of other board members cars/inputs and mine with the weld drag lite fitment. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=57677
I ended up with 15x8 but with 5" BS but I need a small spacer on the inside. Keep in mind I have a ford 9" moser rearend built to chevy specs which might be why I couldn't fit 4.5 BS without cutting? I would have to trim the outer wheel wells to fit 4.5 BS. Also note member Dubuick 69 buick pictures he added to my post http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=93411&page=1&pp=25
(#25) There showing mods needed to fit 15x8 with 4.5BS on his car. Looks like some people make it with 4.5 BS and others don't.

LOL Greg. I have both of those threads saved on my favorite list. The tire fitment is a tough deal on the 68/69 cars with the low wheel wells.
I think the main reason we are having an issue with the slicks is the fact that they have a 13" sidewall width. It looks like a lot of guys are sticking with the 11" or 12" sidewall width.

We'd like to go with a MT ET Street or a Hoosier Quicktime Pro if we can since the car is going to see some street duty as well. The ET Streets have a limited size range but the Hoosiers have some 28", 29", or 30" diameters with a 11" to 12" sidewall width. I realize they aren't really safe for the street but they are DOT approved and they'll keep the man off of our backs. :TU:

    Thanks Denny.
Oh BTW, I figured out which spring was the left and which was the right. My brother bought them from a fellow board member who labeled them L and R when he put them in the box. :TU:

Looking good guys, I had to do a little tweaking to get the Hoosier 29X10's on my 69 and yes a 5" backspace would make like much easier.

Well we got some primer on the car today. Home made paint booth. Box fans, furnace filters and visquine(sp). It looks pretty good but the real test will come when the actual paint and clear go on.
