I figured that I would post a few pics of the 69 that my brother and I are building. We've been scooping parts up here and there for awhile now and I'm not sure much of anything will be new on this car. :beer
Everything from Stg2 TE heads, headers, radiator, Weld wheels etc. etc. have been bought from this board.

The block will be going to Earick sometime this spring. In the meantime the 12 bolt is being built right now at Reider Racing and I am finishing up the electrical and getting the car ready for paint. We are gonna spray it ourselves in a makeshift booth in the garage.

The trunk trim was really pitted so I welded the holes up instead of using it.

I saw those for sale. Looks tempting but we already bought alum. rods and JE pistons.
We used a kit from MAD electrical to move the battery and silenoid to the trunk and change the distribution block to the firewall. www.madelectrical.com has a ton of good products and he will send you everything you need for the job.

The trunk battery box is an issue of great debate. It says in the NHRA rulebook that you must use a sealed box unless you have a firewall between the interior and the trunk but I talked to a guy from the pontiac site that is involved with tech and he said that some classes consider the backseat sufficiant and the steel or alum. is not needed. So I'm gonna stick with this box for now unless I have to change it to a $90 sealed box. This is the one that I see most guys running and I don't think they have steel or alum. closing off the interior of the car.

I used another distribution block on the right front fenderwell to get power from the alt. to the relays for the fan and elect. water pump.

It's funny. I actually felt like there was progress being made once I mounted the rad. and fan.(thanks Rick Crawford)

We decided to run the fan and wp on a switch so we could cool down between races.

    Todd,

Looks like you are making a lot of progress on the race car. I look forward to seeing when it's done.

    Take care,

    Larry

We will be taking the block/heads etc down to Brian Earick soon. As soon as the weather breaks I'm hoping to get the car painted. We are ordering a 4" cowl glass hood from VFN today.
We're still waiting for the axles to be made for the rearend. As soon as that gets here we can get all of the HR suspension stuff bolted on.

    How's your car running?
Hope to see you at one of the events this year.

So that explains the high heat bill from the garage.
I feel kinda guilty as Todd has been turning all the wrenches while I am busy working. He keeps telling me to not worry about it and just keep writing the checks. :beer

Well I ordered the primer and paint yesterday so I guess it's time to get sanding. Somehow I don't think the hours and hours of sanding are going to be very much fun.

The car is going to be about the same color as Dubuicks car. I've been hooked on that color since I saw a picture of his car a few years ago.

The rearend should be coming back this week from Reider Racing. I have to say that I'm not very impressed with them right now. It seems like we've had to take more parts to them then they have ordered. :Do No:
They couldn't get the 3.73 gear for a 4 series carrier because they were back ordered. Guess where they get their gears from. Precision Gear and precision gear only and they were on backorder for months. Guess who owns Prec. Gear, yep Reider Racing. So we had to order our own gear from Richmond and take it to them. Funny thing is they told us that they don't use Richmond because they are expensive and you pay more money just for the name. Well at least when I called Richmond they could get me the gear and it wasn't on backorder. :spank:
They didn't even have the bolts to bolt on the axles and backing plates to the bolt on ends on the tubes. We had to order them from moser and take them over to Reider unless we wanted to wait an extra week.
Oh well, I guess we should have taken it to DTS instead.

Getting ready to bolt the rear end back in. Chevy 12 bolt with all the good stuff. Moser 33 spline axles, full spool, and of course the full H & R Parts set up.

Bolt in axles. This is really the way to go if you are having axles built anyway. Did not cost much more than a set C clip eliminators would have. Plus this will never leak.

    looks good

Coming along nice Todd. My 69 is all torn up too getting the stage 2 http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=93411&highlight=308

I have an order in for the whole rear end suspension setup from HR too. I'm running a ford 9" bolt in from moser with the 31 spline axles that bolt in like yours. It's a nice setup.

Chris and I finished bolting the rear in last night. The HR stuff went in like a dream. No problems whatsoever. We bolted the wheels and slicks on the rear and it looks like we are going to have to do some trimming to keep the slicks from rubbing.
We still have to bolt the anti-sway bar in but so far I'm very impressed with the HR stuff.

I hope it serves you well. It was good to me and kept things nice and cool for the 2 years I used it. :TU: I was glad when everything finally made it to you. Good to see it all has a good home. I will be going to a smaller double pass(22"x19") setup to make room for a 3 gallon fuel cell up front. :Brow:
