Is there a rebuild kit that accomodates ethanol gas and is there a worthwhile rebuild manual. Is the Haynes $22.95 manual a worthwhile investment for a proper rebuild? Carb seems to bleed down after sitting, making car hard to start even after adjusting and rebuilding choke. Need to check accelerator pump to see if it squirts after sitting. Car has 72K miles so don't think bores in base need to be bushed but will check for leak with starting fluid. Gas puddle on intake suggests replacing lower gasket. The rebuild kits I've seen on different web sites don't address ethanol problems. car was bought new by my Dad. are there any common problems to address due to age other than gaskets, choke, etc.
    Thanks, Fred

Contact Ken at everyday performance. He is a quadrajet guru and experienced rebuilder. He should be listed in the vendor section. After dealing with problem after problem with professional built q jets ( not done by Ken) I tossed my Quadra jet for an edlebrock thunder series. Bolt on out the box screamer and Maintenace free. But the quadrajet purists swear by the q jets.

If you are going to build it yourself, contact Cliff @ Cliffshighperformance.com to order a kit with good ethanol compatible parts.
You can also buy the book he wrote on building a quadrajet.

Don't use any store bought kit. parts are junk and you won't have half the parts you need.

I always replace the accelerator pump, float, needle/seat, primary rods, jets, and all of the accessible replaceable parts. Your quadrajet is almost 50 years old and needs a complete refresh, including bushing in primary shaft and sealing the well plugs to prevent leak down.
