Is this a 68 0r 69? I am curious about the lower horizontal striping. Was this original? I would like to try something out like that on mine. Leave the swooping body pin striping off, and put this lower stripe on. My car is dark blue with white convertible top and white interior. Any suggestions on how it would look, and what color to make the stripe?

I believe that was an optional stripe on the 68's.

That is a '68 GS with the optional "no charge" rallye stripe. The stripe was offered in 3 colors, black, white or red. I believe a dark blue car would have gotten a white stripe from the factory but you may have been able to order any of the 3 colors if you talked to the sales man nice enough. The factory stripe was a decal and I do believe they are reproduced but they may not be the "exact" factory size.

very cool. I may do this when I get to that stage. I have never seen it around, so that is the draw for me.

FYI, the straight horizontal stripe is technically correct for ‘68 only, but it looks good on a ‘69 too!

My car is blue with white top and white interior.

I saw a black car with a red stripe. Since my brake drums are redish/orange peeking through the mags, I was thinking a similar color for the stripe. Kinda ties the wheels together, so to speak. Or, I could go white.
