Hi everyone, I started this question in another part of the forum, but it probably more appropriate here.

The rear left power window stopped working (hopefully it was in the up position). I still hear a slight clicking noise when I action the front and rear switches, but the window does not move at all. So I believe it is getting power to the relay. I could not find anywhere what is the right procedure to remove the side panel to access the motor. There are a couple of obvious screws I tried to remove, including the ones for the armrest with ashtray, but it does nothing to free up the whole panel. Does anyone know how to remove that panel and access the motor ? Thank you.

You will need to remove the rear seat. Screws in the front and bottom rear of the arm rest. The top of the side panel will need to be removed to access the motor and regulator assembly. There is a very small screw in the top corner just inside the opening for the rear window. Gonna be a pain to get to with the window up. I can take pics if needed

Thanks briz. I'll give it a shot. If you have pictures handy, that would be most helpful.

So, I made some progress today in attempting to repair the rear window motor. Removed the bench seat, the back rest, both armrests and the right panel. I found a lot of junk, rusty, moldy stuff under there , so it was a good thing I got to it.

However, as Brie rightly predicted, because the rear right window is stuck in the closed position, I cannot get to the screw which releases the right panel. It’s a chicken and egg, situation, need to lower the window to access the assembly to ...lower the window...

    Any hints ?

Providing the window motor is capable of working and the problem lies elsewhere-

The motor has two wires to it. Both have +12v. One runs the motor up and the other runs the motor down. The ground is through the case of the motor. You can try hitting the switch and giving the motor a tap with a hammer. If the armature is stuck, the shock should get it working. Or you can disconnect the 2 wire connector and run a 12v wire to the spades on the motor as a bench test. The safest way would be with a Power Probe as its fused

Wouldn't be a bad idea to just test the wires going to the window motor with a volt meter to see if you even have power going to it

Jason took the words right off my keyboard. Try that then let us know what you find

SOOOO, There is power coming to the motor, approx 6V like the one on the left that is working . I tried to shake the assembly and motor while holding the down button, but absolutely no sign of life from the motor.

I need to let it rest and give more thoughts before I break something ;-0

It needs 12V. Run a hot wire and jump it into one side or the other of the plug on the motor.

630C774B-E83C-49FB-B41B-F63BB1B6FA95.jpeg Tremendous progress made. After letting it rest for a night, I started the car and the window came down right away, no questions asked. I was able to remove THAT screw and take off the side panel. Lubed everything. Was working perfectly up and down for a few minutes, It still has moments then stopped, whether I used the front or rear switch. ; I hear the clicking noise but no movement. And I checked the voltage. When the engine is not running, it is getting up to 10 volts, and up to 13 with the engine on. Big progress but not there yet.

As it is getting power to the engine, could it be a faulty engine ? Thanks a lot guys for such your good help.

Have you pulled back the rubber conduit between the drivers door and the body? Early on with my car I was having erratic window operation and later found all the wires cracked inside that boot some hanging on by a couple of strands. Once that was repaired its worked fine.

Its ups and downs! From its stuck position, I resorted to unscrew the 10 or so bolts that fatsen the assembly to the body. I didnt remove entirely, jusyt enough to check that all the parts moved freely and give the rails a thorough greasing. It showed erratic behaviour again. Sometime working perfectly from both switches, sometimes not at all.

I would agree wsith Briz again, it must be electrical. The wire harness coming in from the front seems in very good condition, tightly wired up, so I am thinking some faulty grounding either in the wires (but I have checked that the engine in getting power from the wires consistently even when it is not working) or some grounding issue with the engine itself. Jason was saying earlier that the ground goes through the body of the motor, so maybe look there ??? Also when I went through the disassembly, I noticed some sparks when I touched some parts inside.

I will probably remove the engine+assmbly completely and run it on a bench with a 12v battery so see it that works properly.

    Thanks for your help.
