    Hi out there,

Recently acquired and bringing back to life a 68 California GS. In the process of replacing some transmission seals,
it appears the drive shaft is a bit too long for the application. Haven't a clue as to how that happened or why, just that
its an issue now. The bushing in the output shaft housing is also wiped out (due to the prop shaft mis-match?). The
transmission is indeed a Buick ST-300 2-speed. It is very smooth and shifts nicely. The output shaft housing bolted to
the rear of the transmission (it also contains the speedo gear) looks suspiciously clean compared to the transmission case.
Were there different housings made for this transmission? The technicians want to have a pro-transmission/drive line shop
shorten the driveshaft and rebalance it to bring everything back into harmony. Is there anything I don't understand here or
is it quite possible a different replacement drive shaft was installed in the car for whatever reason. I am unable to contact
    the oriiginal owner.

    Thanks
    Tonino
