Such a beautiful cars! I would like that todays designs was more like those in 60's and 70's, not like today's - like swollen alcoholic's face. :ball:
1968 GS, automatic on the floor, 455 from a 71 car. Just installed a Yukon Duragrip limited slip. I grew up with a 73 Camaro RS/type LT. Looked at buying a 69 Camaro the day I bought this. Fell in love with this car; enjoy driving it more than the 69 Camaro I passed on and just as much fun as my 73. Please keep these Buicks a secret. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know this isn't the place for the '67, but its one of the only pictures of the '68 I have on this computer.
Curious as to what color my car was originally. The cowl tag says SCO for the paint color which means Special Car Order. It has been stripped to the bare metal for the last 10 years as my painter friend had a heart attack and then family stuff, blah blah, time passes and I am back on the project. The color does not appear on any Buick color chart for 68 as far as I can tell, sorry, the only pics I have are scans of pics from 1996 and 2001. Suspect it might be FireGlow? It is getting sprayed in Black Cherry with a bright red 68GS stripe later this year.
I'm in the sun so I can't see this as well as I'd like, but I'm seeing 'Trishield's car as a '68 with burnished saddle paint, buckskin bucket interior and roof, a 4 speed and a/c, right? My old '68 coupe was that but auto. Man that's sweet! Patrick Otter, 'Fireglow' was a midyear '69 color, so it's not likely that it was a possibility on yours. I'd be pulling off trim, looking under sills, maybe pulling front fenders to try and find the original color. The most likely guess would be a color from another division (Cadillac's firemist colors were noted this way; there's a '70 GS convertible SCO that's Chateau Mauve 'mist out there) or possibly a Riviera color, although I'd think they'd have stamped the code if it's a Buick color. Could have been a dealer, contest, fleet, or unusual customer request.
2027 sounds like a Ditzler/PPG code, and it was a valid number from 1941-1970 on Chrysler products including the '66 Imperial and possibly some trucks--it was called 'Deep Plum'. Maybe?? Patrick
