Are the pot metal surrounds that match the grille and go around the lights different between the Special/GS and the Skylark?

Looking at mine, there is no part number visible on the back side, but it does have a large L or R indicating which side to mount it.
Looking at ebay, i see somebody has some listed that have a part number 1377971 in the pot metal casting but doesn't have the L or the R on the back.
    So whats up?

Yes, the Special/GS have a notch out of them to allow for the red center grill bar. I have seen people buy Skylark ones and make the cut out to work with the GS/Special grille.

IN fact if you look at a Skylark one from the back, the area needing cutting is outlined.

Interesting replies. I double checked these and there is no part number on it anywhere, just the L or R. Also on this pair, there is no outline on it showing where the cutout would go, but upon searching for some images, I see what you mean, it is just a little notch to accept that center rib.
Must have had multiple diecasting locations and some had part numbers and some didn't.

Early HL doors did not have the outline. If you look at your door you will see the L at the top between the headlights. Down at the bottom in very small letters you should se lh and the #.
