I recently acquired an very clean and solid 67 Skylark from a guy in Florida who seemed to have an addiction to flipping classics. I have put a little money into the tranny rebuild and a few ignition parts but over all its in great condition with about 30k in restoration from the late 90s or early 2000s. I welcome any info from anyone who knows any history on the car. Unfortunately no-paperwork or history was passed on with the car. I'm working to get somethings corrected to restore original performance, since the car has the wrong carburetor on it right now.

Welcome aboard. Nice looking ride. I would not worry about the carb unless it's not working correct.

It hasn't been right, It will run but but hard to start. Someone slapped an off the shelf Edelbrock 4 barrle on it and wired the choke wide open. Right now Im trying to figure out which proper carb I need to replace the original Rochester QJ. Currently I don't have any choke functioning or the passing gear hooked up. Engine appears all stock in every other manner. I don't know what CFM I should be shooting for or if their is better performance value in a particular brand. I wasn't sure where I was going to post topic/ question but maybe you can direct me to the proper authority or sub-section of the forum. Thank you

These are the ones Im looking at:

When I go to the parts store they can pull up like 14 different carbs for the 6.6L but no help in choosing the right one.

You need to get a hold of Mark on the board. He's member here that has a great Quadrajet rebuilding service and will fix you up with a proper Q-Jet carb. Here's his link...www.QuadrajetPower.com

Welcome! Nice car. I second the carburetor advice; parts store remans have been shoddy junk for years now, and your car wants a Buick qjet built for your engine by a careful Buick person.

So... 9 hours under the car today. Learning a lot by the way... after my car started sounding like wood chipper just glad it was back in my garage when it happened.. Took a while to get it lifted on the 5th floor of this parking garage. I still need to get with Mark about the Quadra jet but you all have been very helpful so far, thank you! So the starter went nuclear and I got everything apart and even rebuilt most all the wiring ends today (cutting off the frayed and or corroded) and reran it all back underneath. I don't want to put the new starter in until I can get the correct rear support bracket which is missing. I need some help so I can get this back together and drop it off in FL before July when the Army sends me from GA to Germany. Not having any luck online identifying the right support bracket and I don't want to end up breaking the new starter in the same way down the road.

    That would be "carmantx" ............http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?members/carmantx.13537/
As far as the starter bracket goes, I think it's the correct one but not sure because I don't have one on my engine. I never had a starter break like yours did. Is the timing set correctly on your engine?

The timing is fine as far as when it runs it runs smooth. Im pretty sure that is the correct bracket but I wasn't sure if the 2040parts was a good site to buy from or if I could find at a more reputable source. Thanks for the feed back. I just wanted to make sure I put this thing back together correctly as much as possible.
