I am going to buy a rollcage for my 67 Special. I have the body off the frame. How many point cage should I get to run 10 sec. and what brand ? I do want to run this on the street and have a full int.. Are there any mods I should do to the frame or body to make the installation easier ? And should I do any mods the frame for more strength. It is an open frame not boxed and pretty flexable. Any replies will be greatly appreciated. Thankx.

12 point first off if your going to commit to a cage get it all done now.I'm sure the 10's won't be good enough for long and you'll have a new goal might as well be ready. When they in stall the cage have them go through the top part of the rail and end the tube on the bottom part. Then weld the tube to both the top and bottom of the frame. This will make the cage one with the frame for the strongest possible chassis. The cage kit's I have seen never seem to fit tight since they are generic.I would have a cage built for your car therefore it fits tight and you will end up with more room in the interior.I would also recommend using chrome moly for weight savings but this will depend on your budget.

I figured because it is an A Body I would luck out and use one for a Chevelle. And weld it in myself. Sounds like I should get someone who knows how they are made for an A Body so there are no hidden issues when installing it wether it be a premade or a custom one.
There is a guy in my home town that supposedly does great work with cages. I guess I'll give him a call and see what his schedule is like. I want it done soon and done right. I have to much $$$ in this car to chince out now.
Thanks for the reply. Ray :beer

It all depends on how picky you are.A chevelle kit will fit but since no one car is the same even a chevelle car to car may be slightly different. They make the hoops smaller to allow them to fit easier in all a body's.I like my cages to fit tight where from the out side you can barely see them.I'm anal on things like that. Also the tighter the cage fits the harder it is to weld it take a few tricks to get it welded all the way around.
