I ground my governor already and raised the shifts to 5450 1-2 and 5500 2-3 before the trans kit. Richard, very happy that you've become a part of the history of this car, but joining earlier would have given you a ton more past information about the earlier steps of the build.

Another question, when is a baffled or somehow modified center sump oil pan needed?

Since you're on a quest for speed, looking to run in the 12's and frequent the track quite often it probably wouldn't hurt to put one on now:)

I ran a stk rear sump pan in the low 12s without any issues, on a very basic refresh no machine work motor.

Could it had benifit from baffling????? No clue

Theres several post in the site search option, on center sump oil baffle. Stock engines on normal driving are fine. As we all know. Some post say anything over stock for racing.
You may have to read several to get all the facts. . Center sump, I would worry more myself. As on hard acceleration oil running to rear. I hope this helps.

    I just visited Yardley's website, 1badriv.com

He himself welded in oil pan baffles. It seems like I don't have much of a choice. Wonder if the pan can be removed with the engine in the car? If I do that, do I go to a 5/8ths oil pickup or does it not matter if the internal passages are stock?

I've looked a few times at removing the pan with the engine in the car and came to the conclusion it would be way easier to just pull the engine rather than fighting with everything. By the time you got the engine high enough for the pan to clear everything it might as well be out of the car lol. As for the 5/8" pick up tube it won't do much with the rest of the oil passage being smaller diameter.

Damn. But I guess I won’t be having this problem with street tires.

I put a 5/8 pickup on a stock oil system 70 455 rear sump and got more top end pressure....

I'm thinking center sump ok to high 12s as long as oil level is kept full

If the 60" is slower than 1.8, would you say that still works?

Watch the gauge on hard acceleration and hard braking and you'll know..... ;)

I’m at school and have been for two weeks. I’ll be back tonight.
I’ll be removing the whole steering assembly and video documenting it for one of my classes. Then later with new parts I’ll be reinstalling brand new steering stuff. Gotta get that 4.0

Bad news: driver side exhaust mount over the wheel well broke and has been rubbing. How bad is this?

Buy a new tire and throw that one in the trunk for a spare!

I figured, and I’d never race on that one now.

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

h724 Hankook Optimo has a single ply sidewall that is already fairly soft.
That is at least halfway through the rubber, and hitting any pothole of anything that can lead to rim to compress that sidewall, could result in failure.

Sidewall flex and sway are also something to consider with a heavy car and that damage. Leading to heat and failure.

Aircraft maintenance says, no sidewall damage.

And your Riv is a high speed, low drag, nap-of-the-earth, pig.

I wouldn't trust my life or the others on the road to that tire.

Limp it to the tire shop and replace? Nevermind, take the wheel there myself
