Hello everybody! Have been here on the board for a while with my 68 Wildcat, but i always wanted a 67 GS. When boardmember boe posted his GS for sale, i knew immediately, that this is gonna be my car. After making the deal with him and well, a hundred phone calls to shipping companies and agents, the car was picked up and went on a trip across the ocean. So, this week it arrived and i picked it up after a 500mls trip to the harbor in Rotterdam. I `d like to thank boe for selling my dream car to me. He was as honest as possible and always a nice guy! It needs one of everything, but I`m going to restore it to it`s former glory. Can`t wait to get started! Here some pics and the pics boe sent me. http://s1293.photobucket.com/user/basvatek/slideshow/red 67 gs
I second that Joe, I just got a 67 GS 4SPD myself that I am beginning to restore. Maybe we can help each other out with the process as we go along. I am going to be shipping my car to New Zealand. I would appreciate some tips you may have picked up during your 100 phone calls! Ed
Cool project. Looking forward to seeing it when done. on the first picture is another blue 67. also yours? cheers Patrick
Thanks everyone for your kind words guys! The frame is rusty, but i`m considering myself a skilled welder, so it`s going to be safed. Checked out the rest of the car for rust, it needs a new trunk floor and quarters, but the rest like the rockers, fenders, hood, doors, trunk lid look very solid! Will try to spin the engine over, maybe there`s some life left in it, but it`s going to be rebuilt anyway. NZ GS 400 Ask me what ever you want and i`ll try to help you out! PatricksBuick Thanks! Nop, that`s a photo of boe`s garage. Are you taking your Special to shows around Munich? Have never seen that car on a show. I`m only 100kms away from you
Hello v8buick, i guess it`s time for a little update. Got the car for almost three months now, and didn`t get much done, had a hard time looking for a new garage, but i got one now and started one the teardown. First i wanted to try if the engine wants to start, so i filled up the carb, connected it to a gas can and it fired up for the first time since 1998!! After this little success the teardown began. I`m totally stunned how the car looks rustwise, the body is solid as a rock(except the trunk and quarters), it looks much worse than it is!
Hey Joe, are your intentions to perform a full frame off resto? Who is going to rebuild the engine? Good lick with your project!! Patrick
Hey Patrick, yep, it`ll be a full frame off resto, the frame has some serious rust issues, so that`s the only way to go. The engine will be done by Peter Schfer in Moosburg, close to Landshut, he has rebuilt the engine in my Wildcat and did a fantastic job, if you need an engine builder ask him, he is the go-to-guy. Check out his website: www.p-s-r.com Right now i`m not quite sure if i go with the 400, 494 with a 6speed looks really appealing If i go the stroker way, i will definetly keep the 400 and M21. Thank you!
Hi guys, time for a little update, the shell is empty now and off the frame, that body mounts were a pain in the ..., discovered some rust around the rear window. Next step is getting the frame stripped down and welded.
Time for a little update. Have been busy the last two months, so haven`t done a lot. Last weekend i started on the car again. Cut the rust out of the frame and welded in some new steel! Will add some bracing in the rear.
