this is my starting block for the next build. Wanting to pro-tour it so it will change in big way I hope. I want to have it ready for Daytona in March but we'll have to see how the budget likes supporting this AND my 70 Camaro. I'm not sure what wheels it will get yet but as of now I'm leaning to my old monte carlo rally's with no trim rings, painted the same color as the car with dog dish centers. Car is going to be butternut yellow by the way and will have a black/grey interior.
66 is a nice body for the Skylarks. What progress have you had so far? or what ideas do you have flowing on your build?
gathering parts right now. Doing a front power disc brake conversion with dropped spindles right of the bat to get the stance right AND to get it to stop. Ordered a set of rear control arms and trying to get an idea of what body work is priority. Other than a little rust around the back glass(typical) there's only maybe two hard days of body work to do. Nominal rust and most is just surface. I think the car was originally white by the jambs. Interior is blue so it makes good sense. I want to do butternut yellow with black interior though. I also found a source for budget 5.3 swaps local. I can get a complete pullout with trans, harnesses, gas pedal, ecm, etc for around $1500 and he'll pull it. Wire it, fire it and go.
