Anybody have (or are willing to take) a picture of the fuse box on a 66 Riviera? If no pics how about a diagram for which fuses go into which sockets and the amperage?

There must be a lesson here somewhere... I unbolted the fuse box and cleaned the metal fuse recepticals with a wire brush and WD40. They were very corroded and rusted.

    Problem:

WD40 also seems to remove the paint on the plastic box telling which fuse goes where and what the ampers are. I don't know which fuse goes where and as I am having electrical problems (reason for the cleaning of the contacts) it is difficult to determine by trial and error.

    Added Bonus:

Now I am going to have to paint these on by hand.. oh boy.

I don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try. I have a 70 Chassis manual. The fuse block is the same for all series, don't know if it's the same for a 66 but here goes. Their are 2 columns of fuses. Starting at the top, left column, the first slot is for a circuit breaker for power accessories, second slot CLK, LTR CTSY(20A), third slot TAIL(20A), Fourth slot STOP HAZ(20A), Fifth slot INST LPS(small fuse10A). Second column, first slot WIPER (20A), second slot HEATER A/C (25A), third slot RADIO (10A), fourth slot DIR SIG BACKUP(20A), fifth slot GAUGES(10A). Hope that helps.

Thanks Larry but they are different

Thanks for trying to help on this one but the 66 Riv is different.

I still have the top 5 fuse designations on the left column.

    1. Rear Window Defrost
    2. Backup Stop Turn
    3. Blower
    4. Radio
    5. Clock
    6. ? 7/8"?
    7. ? 7/8"?
    8. ? 1 1/4"?

    Right Column

    1. Flasher plug in
    2. double plug hot wire?
    3. Metal 40 amp fuse for seats and windows
    4. ? 7/8"?
    5. ? 5/8" ?
    6. ? 1 1/4"?

    Thanks,

    Clark

I looked through my '66 Buick manual and don't see a diagram for the fuse box.
Dang! You would think they would have had a drawing of it. I am assuming you either don't have the owner's manual or you do, but it's no help?:Do No:

Nothing in the owners manual either

It lists the fuses along with a better description than what is listed in the chassis service manual. I think its kind of unusual that there is nothing really pertaining to a fuse box graphic in either myself. Do you know if they are the same fusebox for all Buicks that year?

Do you or anyone else know if there is an electrical service manual like the body, chassis and cruise control service manuals (I have all but the cruise control manual)? If there isn't there should be for troubleshooting all the wiring and components.

Well guess I'm still looking for that description or photo.

    Thanks for the help Dale.

    Clark,
I don't know if they are the same for all '66 Buicks.
I would have thought the '70 manual that Larry70GS looked into would have worked, especially since the '66 to '70 Rivs are essentially the same car. Oh well.:Do No:
