Hi there, I'm a newly registered user, but have been lurking and reading posts for a while. I need to know if the '66 spreadbore intake for the Quadra Jet only came on Skylark GSes. I was told and had read on the Riviera Owner's Group website that "66 Rivieras with a 425ci., single 4bbl all came with the Rochester Quadra Jet. So, armed with that tiny bit of knowledge, I have bought an intake off of a '66 Riviera. My question is: Did the "66 Riv' Quadra Jet use the spreadbore manifold or did I screw up? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Ints, I think you did good! 66 425s came standard with the Q-jet and Q-jet manifold. The Q-jet and manifold were only a factory option on the 66 Gran Sport Skylark. Cheryl
Check this thread. Scroll down to the 12th post and you'll see the two intakes side by side. If you have the one with the large secondaries (the green one in the pic) then you got the right one. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13805
Thanks Cheryl and Bill for the feedback. Well, the manifold I have is not a spreadbore, even though it came off of a '66 Riviera. I have researched the '66 Riviera and followed the thread on spreadbore manifolds and Qjets, so I was expecting to see a spreadbore manifold. I bought it from good folks who sell Buick parts for a living, so I am not to worried about getting this resloved. If anything, I am just a little disappointed in the delay of gratification I'll get once I have the right manifold and carb on the car and running. Thanks again for your help!
