That would be cool; I've never had a multi-carb set up. I'd be interested to see how much of a difference it would make in power, besides chewing up an awful lot more gas. One of these days I'll take apart the Q-jet and see where it went wrong. I don't think I'll use it again, I'm very happy with the AFB and my racing days are over. But, like any good mechanic, curiosity as to what killed it has me going, so whoever eventually buys the thing from me will probably end up with a totally rebuilt carb and a clean manifold along with a matching stock powdercoated aircleaner.

The carb on it now was probably not installed by the former owner. He only drove the car 1500 miles in the 5 years he had it. It seems to operate just fine. I just want to make sure the switch pitch is working properly.

My Buchev pickup is not my primary means of transportation and I use it to do actual work. Of all of my expenses on this truck, gasoline is probably the lowest. Frankly, I could care less about it's gas mileage.

You planning to pull a house off the foundations? You probably could with that kind of power! Yeah, it'd be cool...

I have used it to pull telephone pole fence posts out of the ground. I'm probably one of the few folks who have ever replaced a Diesel Engine (6.2L) with a gas engine of 431 cu in (7L) specifically to gain torque. On that basis, the engine swap was a total success. The Nailhead is probably putting out pretty close to it's rated 465 ft/lbs of torque, the Diesel was rated at 276 ft/lbs as I recall. It will pull a small house off it's foundation, especially with the low gear of the THM 700R4.

It's probably working fine. My 66 is the same way. Maybe the 64 was different...:Do No:

It actually looks ok, as long as the plunger of the trans switch travelers in the same direction as the throttle linkage. I think Tom mistook that stud with all the washers as the pivot point....
