1966 Electra Model 48269; 401, AC. Original carb Rochester 4 GC recently rebuilt but is acting up again (it's a little warped). I'll keep it, might put a remanufactured / rebuilt 4GC for originality purposes (it's a very original car), but wondered about members' experience with aftermarket new carburetors like Holleys and Edelbrocks. Reliability and not having to frequently adjust idle mixture are initial goals. Reading some of the earlier posts and related materials, the 4GC was not the top carb even when new, the QuadraJet seem to have a better design, but those are just as hard to find and rather than go with a Quad, I'd lean towards an Edelbrock or something similar, while cleaning and storing the 4gc. Thoughts are welcome. Also suggestions on where to find the various carburetor options. Thanks.

Believe Summit Racing? has bought the tooling for and has reintroduced the early 80's Holley aluminum model #4010 / #4011 series. They have some similarity to the Edelbrock (Carter) in terms of lack of gasketed seams below the internal carb fuel level. Might want to check out Sean Murphy Induction (SMI) if still around, have heard good things about him in terms of Rochester rebuilding, through Peterson publications, but have never used his services.
