Sorry for not getting back to keep you abreast of my issue! I tried everything that was suggested by everyone; I appreciate your valuable wisdom and guidance. Problem Solved. The gasket on the bottom of the carb was the problem. Looking forward to putting some miles on the deuce this weekend!
Turned both screws in till the barely bottomed out and came out 2 1/2 to 3 turns on both; same issue. Pulled the screws out and sprayed carb cleaner and same process; problem persisted. The issue was the carburetor gasket.
Yes, you had a big vacuum leak. That will cause stalling, hesitation, rough idle, and cut down on the responsiveness of the idle mixture screws.
Yes, didn’t think of this because it was changed three years ago with the carb rebuild. Glad that it damaged the gasket and not the carb. Definitely cheaper to replace the gasket versus buying a good, replacement carb.
