Has anyone put headers on a 66 401? It appears that the stearing box will be in the way of standard headers. Dont really want to use shorties, but I will if necessary. Just wondering if anyone else had tried this. If so, what type of headers did you use?
66 electra i did it and the headers are sanderson brand steering box no problem frame big problem! if you have a cutting torch and a weekend it can be done also i had to trim off a boss on the drivers side of the block also you have to notch out the frame about 2-3 in on both sides but it was all worth it!,craig
I am also interested in headers for my (right hand drive) 66 Electra. There is no way that I can notch the frame as any cutting of the frame is severely frowned upon by the local authorities. I'm going to send photos of my engine bay and clearances to TA as they said they might be able to help me decide if there's will fit.
