O Kee Doe Key....talked to a few machinists, engine breakers, and armchair racers who feel it is better to replace the cam and lifters together over putting moly rings in and reusing the old cam, but it (the cam) looks really good and measures good. While in the midst of that dilema, the budget exploded with new pistons, ALL bearings, boring, decking, heads, pumps, magnafluxing, de-flashing, seals, gaskets, blah, blah, wa, wa......:rant:you get the idea....why risk it all on a cam, right?

Criteria is that this motor is not for racing, only for cruising and an occasional (smallish!) burn out.

So, to see what it will really cost, I am asking "Yous" for opinions/experiences on what a good cam/lifter brand is vs ones to stay away from!

As always, "Tanx fer da advice der".........

It is real easy to give out advice when you are spending other peoples money,,,, Opinion from an old fossil that has been there , done it, and got the knuckle scars to prove it....
The factories, all of them, recommend and do put new lifters on old cams all the time.... even well used ones.... just use quality parts,,, melling, perfect circle, Mogle, ect... and put plenty of good moly grease on the lobes and lifters.... and it will do just fine and save you the cost of a cam....
Just be sure you install new cam bearings... that is where your oil pressure is.... re using old cam bearings in a new engine is a bad, bad, mistake....
You said the cam looked good, measured good, ect,,,, moly grease it,, use good oil,,, and zddp... and go with it... :Smarty:
Just never, ever, put used lifters on a new cam, nor mix the used lifters up on the old cam.... :Brow:
