    Hey guys,

I have succesfully found out the following about my car.

Model: 1965 Buick Skylark Sport Coupe V8, Two door hardtop (444375)

    Build Location: Fremont, CA (Z)

    Build Date: March 1965 (Week 1) (3A)

Paint: Arctic White with some Regal Black something?? (CCA)

Interior: Ivory Vinyl with bucket seats (154)

Options: Two custom front seat belts with retractors (A49)

However, I am looking for help with my oddball paint code.

The paint code reads CCA. I have determined three (3) possible options.

    1. It was an Arctic White car with a Regal Black Vinyl Top
    2. It was an Arctic White car with Regal Black painted wheels
    3. It was an Arctic White car with a painted Regal black roof

Does anyone know what the third digit in my paint code means?

Two CC would be white top and bottom. Maybe painted black inside the halo trim? Need more members that know the three letter code....I don't think I have seen it.

I think Fremont cars put the wheel color as third digit, so that would be black wheels.

You are the second person to suggest it determines wheel color. I wish I could find a stock vehicle out of Fremont to compare data plates with.

My 65 has the same CCA paint code and was out of Fremont also, but my car was not stock when I got it...It is red maroon in/out.. My interior color was originally red/maroon..I have heard the same as Patrick has said it was white/white with black steel wheels with poverty caps..

My '65 Gran Sport has an RR A paint code. Here is my interpretation of what that means:

    R = Flame red paint
R = Red interior (some of the interior components are painted to match interior vinyl selection)
A = Black painted steel wheels?

I have the original wheels with what I think is the original paint and well, they are black. So maybe the "third letter is wheel paint color" theory holds up.

Interesting. We need to get to the bottom of this!
I believe the RR denotes a red bottom half of the car and a red top half of the car. (Meaning no vinyl top) I could be wrong though. Your wheels being black is good news for the theory indeed!

Interior color would be incorporated in the interior trim code...
Yet I have no knowledge of the third letter , for all the time I have spent
    Trying to decipher the codes.

Not sure if '64 and '65 used same codes, but my '64 has CCA paint code too. It is a Fremont car. It has Arctic white body and top inside the halo trim and had black steel wheels with full wheel covers with spinners. I'm pretty sure it is original although it has one repaint. I haven't found any of the usual signs that the paint colors were changed anywhere.

Buickā€™s lack of information available is challenging.
This is some awesome info! Our cars were almost twins! Do you happen to have the build date?

If I remember correctly, it was built in May '64. Seems like third week, but not sure on that, as it's been a while since I looked that up.
