I'm about to put a frame up for sale for a friend. He said it's for a 65 Skylark GS but I wanted to be certain. Can anyone tell me what the correct dimensions would be for this? Thanks, Jim
It has the boxed side rails, that is a good sign.... the GS used the reinforced convertible frame. 65GS.com has the '65 Buick service manual online in the 'Electronic Garage'. Or here's some pics with frame dimensions: http://www.65gs.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=8&page=9 Chevelles had a shorter rear overhang, about 2", so check that dimension carefully.
'67 frames have some minor differences..... rear coil spring seat takes pigtail springs instead of open style, and the trans crossmember mounts have more holes to accept the longer TH400/ST400 transmissions. Also, the '65 frame has a different front crossmember, but it's just cosmetic..... it has a point welded on it, while the 66-up had it molded in. Some early '66's still used that frame. Not a big deal, but some buyers might care.
Thanks for the help. The measurements are correct to the frame chart wkillgs provided. It appears that the the coil spring seats are open and the tranny crossmember attaches to a bracket welded onto the frame.
