Hi gang-I have to pull these off a frame later today and I think they are bolted on from behind-that is-with the bolt heads blind in the frame-is that right? What's the story on doing this-have to leave to do the job in a few hours-thanks!

    difficult

It seems that I remember this being difficult but do able. You will need a 'wiggler socket' and it seems like I remember going thru a small hole in the frame at a fierce angle to get at one of the bolts. the others are not so bad.

Thanks Doc-I have 1/2 and 9/16 6 point 'swivel sockets' that I'll bring along-the front clip and drivetrain are gone so hopefully I'll get it done. I'm buying the 401/st300 from this car=typical Minnesota rustbuck '66 Sky GS parts car

bring a nice long 3/8 extension, 3/8 to 1/2 adapter, 1/2 breaker bar, lots of pb, 1/2 swivel 9/16 shallow swivel, 9/16 and 1/2 rachet wrench and you are in gd shape. .. ohh and lots of patients

Thanks guys-all went well and we got the 401/st300 and the other GS mount stuff and exhaust manifolds-couldn't believe the heat riser worked as this thing had been in the shed for many years-

    Mounts & Pads

Where do you guy's come up with all this old Buick stuff? Right here in Buick town, I can't find a thing. Our Winter's are bad too, with salty streets rotting out our cars, but it seem's as tho they all get crushed. It's really frustrating. I would like to drop a 425 in my 65 Skylark, but it look's impossible. I'm running a 300-4, I have a 425, 455 and am picking up a 350 next month. Dirty but can be cleaned up. I have the adapter plate pic's that Da, Bonehead put up. They look the same, only turned around in my shop manual. what if I just drilled out the motor side, bolted them on, and dropped the block into the engine bay with my 300 pads and mounts bolted together and marked where they met the plate. Take the block back out and drill and tap for my 300 mounts where they were marked? Get a set of Nail Head Header$ from TA and use them instead of trying to find the rare stock manifolds. This would be pretty much the same as a 65 GS. Am I missing something? I could also look around for a set of mounts that fit my pads. I know I'll need a rear sump pan and pick-up. Another bump in the road. I sure do like the idea of a Nailhead in my car rather than a 455, which has been done over and over. Any and all reply's are welcome and appreciated.

Ponch 65 , I know what you mean. Try and find a Nailhead in Ontario, "IMPOSSIBLE". I managed to find 2 455's, one out of a barn, seized carb, fuel pump not working and leaking water pump, but it runs, the other 455, 3 pistons seized but it's rebuildable. I know where there 3 more 455,s. One's seized, 2 are running but they want $1000.00 for each. :Dou:

The 300 mounts and pads are too tall--the engine would sit about 3" too high at the mounts if you did that and the top of the fan would be hitting on the bottom of the hood!
