Anyone out there that has a '64 or '65 Lark, or Special, hdtp. or Convert, that has a 455 in it, this question is for you. Do you know the front end weight??
I have MOROSO trick front springs, I'll have to dig out the part number, but when I put them in, after settling, the car was sitting about 1 inch lower than I wanted, not really a big deal, but now I have the TRZ upper & lower A-arms on the way, and they said the car will sit about 3/4 in. lower than stock. When I heard that, to me that just mean the front end will now be at least 1 3/4in. lower than I wanted. So I'm looking into buying another set of Trick springs that are taller, and stiffer. I really don't mind the front end being low, but the problem is that I can't lower the rear to give the car the proper look / ride height, I have notched the rear frame to run 29.5 x 11.5 slicks on 10 in. rims,I'd be lucky to fit a finger tip between the tire and the frame, and tire to inner portion of the rear quarter. I may look into buying some 10.5 slicks, required to run in Limited street, I'd have to check those tire dimensions, I may be able to lower the rear with th 10.5s'. Whatever I do I'd hate to screw up the cars ability to 60ft., off the trans brake, on the bottle, car has gone 1.31 60ft times.
I have weighed my car in the past, but didn't get the front & rear weights, and now the car is down. So if anyone has checked this out, let me know your weight and combination, I had a aluminum headed, girdled and filled 455, without inner fenders, Wilwood front discs, and Bogart rims w/ MOROSO skinny drag tires (about 15 lbs. per side). Like I said I'll attempt to calculate the differences, but need this info. to get new springs, that option is cheaper than new slicks. I looked at the MOROSO web site and picked out a "heavy" set, like I said, I need to get the part number from what I bought so I can compare.
    Any help is appreciated.

how about measuring the coil diameter, overall spring diameter and approx free standing height. moroso should be able to let you know with that info.

Well, I guess I'll share my info. for others out there to use. My good friend "Old Man Bill" Murray has a '65 Lark 2 door Post car, w/455, headers and aluminum intake, battery in trunk, everything else is pretty much stock, and he loves to find out the weight of everything!! Lucky for me!
OK, his car with 1/4 tank gas weighs in at 3260 lbs., the Front end weight was 1880 lbs. and rear was 1380 lbs.
So from what I get from this is that I'm totally sure that the front of my car has to be between 75-100 lbs. lighter, so if I would buy a set of Trick front springs for "his" weight, it should work out height wise, and maybe alittle taller than I'd like, no problem just wack off 1/2 a coil. I will call MOROSO to see how they come up with their weight numbers. I really do hate these springs, they are a real mutha F*$# to install!! Even worse if you run the HAL QA 1 shocks, these shocks are fatter and will not fit in from underneath. Ten times harder to install a spring when the shock is installed.........

    springs

I have moroso coils for 66-67 chevelle in my 66 skylark. It gave me enough hight to clear bigger pan and ta headers. It sits a tad higher in front than rear. The batt is in trunk,no ac,alum intake, and motor setback. The car launches good with and settles.

Mike, do you know the part number for the springs?? I may have the same ones, I found the receipt, the ones I have are pn:47195,BBC, for 1730-1790 front end weight, and 250 lb. spring rate. That spring is the "stiffest" listed for a 64-67 GM "A" body, I almost positive that the 64-72 springs are the same, so I'm looking into MOROSO's pn:47200, for a 68-72 BBC GM "A" body, 1750-1810 front end weight, and a 260 lb. spring rate.

Just order the stiffer spring and you will be okay. Worst case you cut 1/4 coil anyway. The moroso drag springs will settle a lot so drive on them for a month or so before cutting. Those springs have a lot of coils and are tall wich means tie downs and compressor.
