Me too - Ken any luck with the pieces your son ordered?

OK boys, long story short. When my son first got the kit, initial inspection seemed that it will fit ?? However with him being very busy at work ( and being a little slack ! )
he has not yet gone any further with it. I keep dropping hints so it looks like I'll have to go around there and make a start with him. I'll get on to it next week.

OK, so we got stuck into it this week with the weatherstrip kit for Chev Impala. Firstly, as maybe expected , the outer door window weatherstrip / scraper does not have the stainless bead. So you use the all rubber strip or you can do as I did and remove the old rubber from the original strip ( I used a Dremel tool ) and then using polyurethane glued the two pieces together and used pop rivets to hold it in place. You still use the original clips to secure the stainless bead piece and the new piece together on the door. There is some effort involved and maybe not worth it to some, it does look nicer as per original. The inner scraper on the door card is not exactly as per original but very, very DSC00841.JPG DSC00842.JPG DSC00844.JPG DSC00846.JPG DSC00841.JPG DSC00842.JPG DSC00844.JPG DSC00846.JPG DSC00841.JPG DSC00842.JPG DSC00844.JPG DSC00846.JPG close and is not big deal to swap out. Four pop rivets hold in place. Need to drill new holes in door card.
The door seal fits the same as Buick, except the new seal comes with plastic push in clips whereas Buick had wire impregnated into the seal. The lower section of Buick door has plastic plugs fitted into the holes. The plastic type clips need to be pushed in hard into the plastic plug. We used polyurethane to hold it all in place as well. Hopefully seal never comes loose until the next replacement in 40 years time.
When we finish the doors and rear quarters then can try out the roof rail rubbers for fit.
