I know it is not a Buick but thought some of your 61-63 members may be interested in this. I listed it on eBay last night with no reserve and no opening bid. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Oldsm...-1963-Oldsmobile-Cutlass-Jetfire/222856462434
Hot Dang! And a four speed too? You may address me as TURBO FOUR SPEED! Beautiful color combo and I am a sucker for any cool 4 speed consolettes. Very niiiiiice thanks for posting it : )
There are only around 40 of them out there with properly working systems. There could be others that will build boost but if the turbo system has not been rebuilt and is still the old 1960's diaphragms then it is not working correct and there is a risk of damaging the engine. This is one of the roughly 40 with a rebuilt system that is working correct. There are more being rebuilt so hopefully we will see this number continue to go up.
A friend who had just bought a new blue turbo Olds like yours took me for a ride in 1963. I remember the boost gauge being in the center of the console. It was my first ride in a turbocharged car. Your car looks brand new just like the blue one I rode in 55 years ago.
Yes, the boost gauge is in the console. These boost gauges are getting very hard to find in working condition.
Oldsmobiles are my second favorite GM cars, after Buick of course. I've never seen a prettier one of these, good luck with the sale, that one should fetch a good dollar!
My cousin has a red '63 w/ 4 speed. His dad bought it new. Had problems with the injection/fluid for the turbo early on. Converted to a 4bbl carb, drove a few years more, apparently he got "mad at it" one day and parked it out back till he could work on it......well that was 40 years ago now and the car is heavily rotted, no floor pans. Discovered Left hand lug nuts for the first time on that car.
Buick is my second favorite with Oldsmobile my top. I hope to be bringing home a set of NOS 70 GS quarters soon that I located.
Yes, by 1965 Oldsmobile offered free of charge to convert any Jetfire to a 4 bbl carburetor. The vast majority of owners did exactly that. Now it is rare to find one with the turbo still intact. Some guys are converting them back to turbo now. Is that one still around that you are talking about. Even rotted out I may be interested in it. The Jetfire emblems and some other stuff is very difficult to find. The 4 speed stuff would be great to have also. Feel free to email me at jensenracing77@yahoo.com if it would be available.
It is around, my cousin wants to some day fix it up again. Pretty sure he will never sell, he is always watching for a donor car to fix his. I noticed your hub caps are a different style. His are the Wire Wheel w/ fake knock off style. Come to think of it, I think he is missing 1. The car has at least been inside now for about the last 15 years.
They had 13, 14 and 15 inch wheels. I have sen some with wire spokes but not sure if it is original. I would need to dig into my 63 information. I know the wire wheel covers were not available in 62. I located a 63 parts car that I am thinking about going to pick up. Body parts are very hard to find in good shape. I may have some good used floor pans though.
