Looking to turn this baby to 5500, so no intentions to play games with my rods and mains. Anyone have a spring laying around? Thank you, John
I would like to turn my down some, my scavenger system pegs my 100psi gauge at over 100 psi. spring looks to be plain no colored. it pegs it when cold of course, but even when oil temp is 160 it pegged by 3000 rpm, going to add a port to the rear of motor when out so I measure it at the end of the motor not just at the filter housing which is b4 it even gets to the motor. br interesting to see how much is lost through the motor. motor wont see much over 7000 ever
Bruno I'm curious as to what the other pressures are? Would higher oil pressure at the top end benefit a cammed street(mostly) 430?
John,I have the white spring in my race car.I do have to use a pressure regulator to keep the pressure in check,as mine there will shoot up to over 100.In my fairly street car I have the same spring,I do have a TA regulator there also,I have about 80 PD cold and worm I have about 30 at idle. After a race it will go down to 20,never lower. You have to use a good timing cover,I did buy a used TA cover, the other one was good also.By the way,if you need a pressure regulator,TA, I have a couple of them I can sell to you if you need it.My over 4000 pd GS has gone 11.70,now with the help of a couple friends, that would be Stacy and Jason Cooke, its going to do better.I went to a a Scott Brown cam,I think its a tad too big,but it should go to the lower 11 elevens.Bruno.
Weather the cam is for the track or street,if you have over 500 HP,you need good oil pressure all the way to the top. When you start the car cold, after a couple minutes, step on the gas going to about 3000 rpm,if the goes above 80,then you worry about it putting a oil pressure regulator. And at idle, hot, you should have around 20 pd of pressure, even up to 10 pd its allright, below that start worrying about it.Bruno.
John, I've got a white spring you can have. PM me your address & I'll throw it in the mail for you. Bubba
