I looked the 59 over for a long time and it was awesome. Yes, $137,500 included 10% premium. The fellow in Florida that has sold his collection at Barrett Jackson and Mecum twice in the last few years is now rebuilding again and bought this car and almost all the 'best of show' convertibles and cars that all came along at the same time. Go to the Mecum site, locate this car on Friday text list or individual cars with photos and all the wonderful cars that came before and few after this one went to the Florida guy. We watched him spend $2 million in about an hour. most of the "best of show" cars went for $200 - 270,000. Friday and Saturday were incredible cars and money spent at Mecum Indy. There were real bargains today, Sunday.
Back in the day I turned down an offer to buy a red bucket seat ragtop for $1200 and bought a second GS instead.
This one's been on Mecum more than once. Same exact pics too. Seems like going from collector to collector to collector. I'd be driving that thing. I don't care how rare it is. That would make me drive it even more.
