'59-'60 DS exhaust manifold for dual exhaust?

Question for those of you with '59 or '60 Buicks. Where is the exit pipe on the drivers side manifold on the dual exhaust cars? Is it in the middle, or in the rear like in the later cars? I need to find one for my '59. Thanks!

Not exactly sure I understand the question but my 60 225's exhaust goes from the manifolds on back via dual pipes into a single transverse mounted muffler that exits from the single muffler with dual tailpipes.

    Hope that helps.

Any way you can post a pic of the drivers side manifold? My LeSabre is a single exhaust and the exit on the DS manifold is facing forward for the crossover pipe. I'm pretty sure that the manifold I need for duals is not the same as the later year 401 manifolds. Something tells me where the manifold connects to the pipe is in the middle and not the rear.

If i can get two knee replacements some back surgery and lose about 5000 lbs I should be able to slide right under there for a picture lol.

I know an old Buick engineer told me to never let anyone talk me into selling my factory manifolds because they are unique but I never confirmed that. If I see any pics I will try and post them but mainly doing 1970 stuff these days.

OK Mike: EZ-PZ. A single factory exhaust system has the drivers exhaust manifold empty to the front. This is to accommodate the shape of the crossover pipe.

A dual exhaust system's driver's side exhaust manifold empties in the rear. This piece is a little pricey and harder to find due to many making a single to dual exhaust conversion.

Passenger's sides are the same for dual and single.

Thanks. So am I right in assuming that the '59 DS manifold is not the same as the ones in the later cars?

OK Mike: Again, 59 and 60 drivers side single manifold exits to the front. Driver's side dual exhausr manifold exits to the back. I only know about 59 and 60. Later models may be different. One way to narrow things down is to reference the part number from a master parts book.

If you want to convert to dual just hone in on a driver's side rear exit from a 59-60. Mitch

Thank you!!! That is exactly what I wanted. The later DS manifolds exit at the rear, where these exit at the middle. This was exactly what I was getting at.
