Howdy all, I have a question about the tail housing on a Tremec. I picked up a used 5-Speed but there was a catch. It has a tail housing with a Hurst Sidewinder II. (Made for a C2 Corvette) My challenge is, the sidewinder Shift assembly was missing from the box.

My first thought was I could find the Hurst shift assembly online, but have come to the conclusion that Hurst is out of business and this custom Sidewinder II no longer exists.

So my next thought was to find a GM-A body tail housing. Wondering if I can simply unbolt the existing housing modified for the Hurst, and bold on a vanilla GM A-Body housing. I'm trying to avoid opening it up and removing pins, rods, seals and other goodies. Rather just bolt on a new complete housing. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hurst is not out of business. They're a part of the Holley group now. Go to the Holley website and their site is there.

Thank you for the information, Holly has the other parts, but the Sidewinder II is gone. As an update, I contacted another company that performs modifications to Tremec transmissions. They are shipping me (due today as matter of fact) a complete tail housing. My goal is to unbolt the Sidewinder incomplete setup, and replace with the out-of-the-box standard one. Pun intended! lol

We purchase our Tremec kits through American Powertrain. Good people, ... nice kits.
Just finished a TKO-600 conversation in a ‘69 Big Block Chevelle today.
