Does anybody know what the rod journal size is for the 494 stroker motor? Several years back I had a cherry crank stroked for the 494 kit which I knew about but it wasn't in the catalog yet. I didn't know that you could get a crank with the kit but I knew the rods and pistons were available. I finally decided to start fooling with this combo and in checking the crank that I had cut, the writing on the counter weight says "M-.010 R-std sj".
It never dawned on me to actually measure the rods (still in the box) and the crank. The box on the Crower rods says "journal size 2.125". I measured the rod journals on the crank and they are 2.000. I hope that I don't have a ruined crank on my hands!:stmad: :stmad: :stmad:

TA catalog says that the stroker crank pin diameter is 2.0". I am praying that I just have the wrong bearings.

    Hi ------,

    BTW, what is your name?

Anyway, that would be correct. Remember you have bearing thickness to take up THAT slack!!

You can put the bearings in the rods and torque them then measure the ID and substract the journal size of the crank......this will give your clearances. Be sure to double check when assembling with Plastigauge ( the .001-.003 size from just about any automotive parts retailer). Do this DRY with NO oil or assembly lube present and DO NOT turn crank will doing this either.

    Hope this helps........:TU:
