    Hello everyone,

My engine is almost complete. I need a water pump. I was just curious what others were using. Please let me know. Thanks.

A little costly, but as far as I'm concerned the T/A pump is probably your best bet.
    Just my opinion.

Thanks. I'm going to go with the flow kooler water pump. I called them and I don't know which one I need. The part numbers are 1617 and 1618. One says it is 4" and the other says 3 and 3/4 inches. Can anyone tell me which one I need? It is going in a 71 Skylark with a 455. Please let me know.

Some motor use a "short" pump and some use a "long" pump. Just measure what you have. Your pulley combination is really what determines one works.

I don't even have the pulley combination yet. I'm working on that. I guess I could go with either of them. Thank you for your info.

I think the important thing if you are going for an OEM pulley combo is to ensure that you have matching crank and fan pulleys. If you can identify what car the set comes from, then you can determine which water pump neck size to go for.........at least that is the way I learned to match it up. Others probably have other tips.

It seems like such a shame to have to hide the impeller.

If you plan on running a 71+ fan shroud use the long pump.

Pulley #s for long pump are 777 crank 778 water pump this is the 3groove

    Short pump is 5143 and 5146 3groove

2 groove is non AC pullies
Short pump is 5142 and 5141 don't worry you won't find these anywhere more than likely

Long pump non AC I don't recall , I do have a set tho 7149 maybe not positive
