My TA competition header are siting very low and are angle down. So my exhaust system is kinked in the middle where the X-pipe is. Do I miss something or is this normal ? Thank you David
No, new motor mount. X-pipe sit higher than the header. It's the angle that annoying. Maybe if I shim the trans ?
David I always did this as a last resort, after adjusting everything else as much as I could. Never liked driving a car with low headers....railroad crossings, speed bumps, pulling in and out of a trailer, etc. You would have to unhook your x-pipe from the header collector, and maybe farther back than that to make sure you have room. Looks like you have slip-fit connectors so no problem there. BEWARE!!! Caveman technology ahead! Get a 2 X 4 that's maybe 4 or 5 feet long and insert it into the collector, using the leverage of the long piece of wood, gently pry upward to bend the header. They are made of steel and steel flexes and bends. Depending on your top collector bolt you may be able to get a 1/2" or more. That may be all you need to change the alignment and get clearance on everything back from the collectors.
The X pipe will be at the level of the headers, but then an exhaust shop can bend the pipes off the X so the mufflers tuck up. Takes a bit of fabricating, something you can’t do installing everything your self.
