I installed new distributor lubed went in smooth took out once put it back in rotated motor to top dead center.
then tried to remove once again it came out a quarter inch or so and there it's stuck no budge up and down don't want to ruin the part or anything else. I removed the oil pump and gears nothing so my thoughts are the cam gear and timing cover are binding and may need to remove the timing cover. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated thanks. Turn/ twist the distributor back and forth, while pulling
    up.

How about that extra long water pump bolt in the pic? Is it caught / jammed on that?

    That looks pretty suspect!

If the bolt isn't effecting it, are you rotating the cap while lifting up on the body of the distributor?

It wasn't the bolt those are original there could be a shorter one I miss placed though will check into that thanks. I had to remove the timing cover the distributor body machining was bad almost welded together.
So I ended up heating up the area and channel locks but what got it out was taping with ball pein and a long 3/8 socket extension though the oil pump shaft hole . Now rebuilding distributor using the old body and new parts glad it still on a stand.
Not the best distributor so you get what you pay for... DSCF3230.jpg DSCF3228.jpg
