    Hi Everyone,

About 6 years ago when I rebuilt and shoe-horned my 455 into my Apollo, I left the stock intake for lack of being able to find a better one. Now that I'm out of college and wiser I have decided to purchase an S.P.1 intake, but can't decide to go spreadbore or squarebore. I have been told that spreadbore is the way to go on a 455, but this guy drove an Olds. Does anyone have any experience with spreadbore to squarebore comparison on Buick? I had a holley with adaptor plate on the car for about a month, and KNOW that the adaptor plate method is NOT the way to go. The only thing that I am sure of is that an 850cfm squarebore carb is alot cheaper than an 850 spreadbore. Any advice would be great

Where in Central IL are you exactly? I like to know who is close by to me in St. Louis:)

I used a squarebore edelbrock on my 350 and lost power...but that could have been attributed to the fact that the carb is too small. Personally, I think the spreadbore is the way to go. I'm hooked on quadrajets and I don't think I can go back to a squarebore unless it is proven to me that it's better.

    Welcome Keith......

What is the primary use of your car?
Any changes planned in coming years?

This will help answer your question more efectively..

Well, I'm in Peoria...The Apollo was actually born in South St. Louis where I'm from.

The next step for the car is to tackle this header issue. If I'm still not happy there may be a possible cam swap...I have found more options than the Comp 268H, but we'll wait on that.
