I think the nipple for the overflow is "outside" the pressure of the radiator. It sees flow only when the system pressure exceeds the cap rating.
Ok thanks Mark I decided to buy A new rad,for the $it's A good piece of mine. I took the skylark on A trip A couple weekends ago ,and it ran warm, so after thinking about it I didn't want to chance it anymore .
Use the DuPont brand 2 part flush. It's a acid and a nutrulizer . Plan on the flush job taking the good part a a afternoon and get one of those back flush kits to go with it . If that does not unclog a restricted system nothing will, and if it works be sure to replace the stat and if you can swing with the cost use Evans waterless coolant in the motor!
Larry would that 2 row radiator support A 455 needs .I have A couple 455,s and would like to build one to put in my skylark one day ,no time soon .
Larry, should I use A bottle of water wetter ,and straight distilled water, when I get my new radiator,or A 30/70 antifreeze. If I did use water wetter, could I add antifreeze with it before cold weather .
You are right, with A new radiator 50/50 should be fine, that way I don't have to worry about it when cool weather hits.
You don't need anti freeze except in the cold weather. You could use just water and WW, and just add in A/F before the winter, but for the sake of simplicity, 50/50 should be just fine with that radiator.
Just installed my new aluminum 2 row radiator, and A 160 thermostat .I ran it A lot in the garage checking dwell ,timing ,and playing around with different curve springs ,watching my tack meter .It never got past 180°,so I think it was worth the $.Me ,my dad,son are going to take it next Saturday on A pretty long trip to A Cruz in,so hopefully it will run cooler on this trip. I want to thank everyone for their help, and talking me into A new radiator, I think the old one was my problem .
