Since a forged 350 piston is no longer made I am thinking about having a run of them made. If you 350 guys are interested let me know and I will do so. My thought is to have them made with a deck height and dish so that with minimal head milling and decking they would start out at about 9.6 to 1 compression. Then with the right decking and head milling about 11.0 to 1.
I know some of you would like more compression for race applications but I think street engines would make up the majority.

Venolia and Arias both will make them. I have contacted both and they will make them in any configuration. If we can get enough people to order we can get some real good pricing. I am in the process of being qualified as a wholesale distributor, but that probably will not be done until early 07. They also make pistons for the 400 and 430's. If you are ordering Mike, let me know what kind of pricing you are getting. In the interim I would order a set of 350 pistons.

    Here it is guys!!
Mike, altough my next build will be a 455 ,if the price due to multiple purchases is atractive,I wouldn't mind getting in on the group purchase. That will give me an excuse to revisit the sbb down the road.

venolia will make them ...actually they have a part # for these...think 7810 ?...but they will cut them to what ever you want for $60 each, which is not that bad. Havr talked to them also and they can have them in about 3 weeks.

    looks like a go

Ok, I can see that there is plenty of interest to go ahead with this.
I have looked at Arias, Diamond, JE, Mahle, Ross, and Wiesco. I have come to the conclusion that JE or Diamond will be the best choice. For those of you that have not heard of Diamond, they do Greg Anderson's Pro Stock pistons. There is not much difference in the price between the two. It will come down to service. One question I do have is that would you guys want to save about $40.00 on the ring set and get 5/64 -5/64- 3/16 non file fit or get the 1/16 -1/16- 3/16 file fit set. The preliminary price looks like I can sell them for about $644.00 for pistons with full machining, pit fit, light weight pins, locks and the file fit rings. I think I can get them to drop ship the pistons to all buyers so that the shipping will be less and the shipping will be actual cost. Diamond is in Michigan so shipping will be less for most of us.
I am open to any thoughts, so let me know what you think.

Sounds like a great deal Mike. I think the standard ring set would be fine.
If we can have a forged piston in the 390 gram range I believe we would have a winner. Especially for under $700!!!
Now all we need are good rods, billet cranks,a halo girdle, and better friggin' heads. Then I can make 1500 hp with one of these little beasts. :TU:

Did you ask about valve relief notches ?..... If up near 11-1 or a bit more i would imagine we would need notches.

had my adv auto guy check 68-72 forged 350 , sealed power # L2343F ( std bore , add "-30" for 30 over ) - via manufacturer , no longer available . he did not have price though . now if the listing is for a newer , maybe mid-late 70's buick , a diff vin code may denote chevy motor in buick and would explain the availability and low price . ? . del

1/16-1/16-3/16. How about ring land from the piston deck? For turbo or nitrous they need to be at least .300" down. Will this be designed in the piston?

    valve reliefs and ring lands

It will be no problem to put a generous valve relief and a ring land at a position suitable for Nitrous. I am still waiting for my contact at Speed Pro to get me a bulk price on rings. If there are any more questions or additions let me know. I think this will be concluded by the end of the week.

I have my 350 apart right now. If I could get my hands on a set of forged pistons quickly I'd buy them. I'd also be looking for a torque plate as my local machine shop doesn't have one. If not, I'll have to put it back together with the cast Badger pistons I bought from PAW in 1988.
