Hi, can anyone enlighten me as to whether the exhaust port outlets on a Buick 350 cylinder head are in the same positions as on a Chevy 350.I do know the mounting angle is different. The reason for the question is st/st performance headers for a Chevy are 10 a penny due to their abundance. So if the pitch of the tubes were the same, my intention would be to laser cut new mounting flanges to match the Buick heads and weld them on at the angle to suit to save myself a bunch of money.
They are close enough. But most Chevy headers the first cylinder comes down right away, and can hit engine mount and frame crossmember. If you can find ones that the first cylinder pipe goes up first then over and down you will have better luck. I would also not use 1 1/2 tube headers. 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 tubes would be better on the Buick.
chevy headers hang down too low anyway. they're very pricey, but sbb headers actually fit. even on my regal they're tucked up really high. can't even tell i have em unless you get down and look under the car.
Hi Mr Sony do you have some companies contacts who sell SBB headers made in stainless steel ? I can't find anyone here in the UK selling Buick pipes .but I can buy Chevy headers made in st st for $150 including shipping.
Are you looking for more power or to replace manifolds. There are other things to do depending on what you want to accomplish.
Hi Alec the motor is stock 75 low compression motor so any increase in power would be good. I am fitting a 4 barrel carb and a TA stage 1 manifold and if I have some tubular headers instead of the cast iron ones it's all going to help. The motor is going to be fitted in a 1988 Toyota LN65 pickup . The other reason I'm looking to fit the tubular headers is they will be a lot simpler to modify than the cast iron stock items when it comes to navigating my way out of the engine bay with the exhaust system.
Shave the heads and put big valves in it. Shave heads around.050. For higher compression which will make more torque. A Quadrajet Power built carb would give good results. Any other carb will need jetting and other work to get fuel curve right
