340 valves in a 215?

    A question of performance.

I'm in the UK and working with rover V8s, but only as a hobby. Performance parts here are scarce in the mass market for rover V8s, that is parts that don't cost an arm and a leg to buy!

I must complement you all now on the friendlyness of the whole build up/tuning thing in America, over here no one wants to let on what they are doing, incase you get one up on them :)

Anyway, I've a set of 1995 Rover V8 cylinder heads for a 215 (3.5), the valves are performance items from the factory, with waisted stems, back cut heads and profiled lips. That doesn't change the fact that they aren't all that big! I will leave the exhaust valves unchanged from factory, but the inlets would be better in a larger diameter, in terms of parts swopping etc, either via Buick 340 parts or volvo (I hear..) what valves can be fitted with ease. Would 340 / 350 valves be a direct swop in terms of collet fitting and spring height? The heads will be going on to a 4.0 litre x-bolted engine in a 600Kg car.
I tell you what, has anyone the details of a web site with performance info on the old buick small blocks 215 - 350, any photos of srtipped down 300-350s would also go well in the 'Buick' section of my web site...please feel free to contribute.

For your info post MY 1976 3.5 inlet valves have:
    stem dia: 0.341" (~8.7mm)
    Head dia: 1.5-1.6" (~40mm)

Please feel free to look at my web site www.ajmac.co.uk under the Rover V8 button, it is dedicated to the history of the Rover unit and the latest 4.6 litre engines going into the Land-Rover Discovery-2 over on that side of the water.
